Catholic Schools Week 2012

Catholic Schools Week is a national event held annually to celebrate Catholic Schools. Catholic Schools Week is the annual celebration that focuses attention on the good work done by the nation’s Catholic schools.

Catholic Schools Week is a joint project of the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA) and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB).

“We see the marvelous reality of Catholic education each day at our school, and we invite everyone to join in our celebration!” ~ St. Joseph Catholic School principal, Lesley Harrison

Schedule & Event Information

  • The theme for this year is “Catholic Schools: Faith, Academics, Service.” Our students can count on our Catholic schools to inspire a full and meaningful life in the Catholic faith, empowering them to reach their full potential and value service to others.

  • Thank you to families, friends and our community for your part in making this another GREAT Catholic Schools Week!

Annual CSW Penny Drive

Penny Drive Information: The student council has announced the recipient of the funds from the annual CSW Penny Drive. Funds will be sent again to assist in the completion of the Catholic Chaplaincy and Chapel/Church of St. Andrew the Apostle in Kaliro, Uganda. We have a special connection to this project through kindergarten teacher Mr. Koza's son Daniel who has been there as a volunteer while serving in the Peace Corps. Funds from previous penny drives helped with the construction of a roof, concrete floor, supplies and materials.

Recently Father Anthony sent the following letter which will explain what is left to complete the project:

Dear Dr. Jim Barbieri,

Greetings to you and the entire St. Joseph's Catholic School, Vancouver, U. S. A. Thank you for the concern for our Catholic Chaplaincy and Chapel/Church of St. Andrew the Apostle. The Church is almost complete except it requires putting a floor and ceiling in the office and reception rooms attached to the Church and painting.

On this note, the following are required:

100 bags of cement: 28,500/=@ 2,850,000
Painting: 3,750,000
13,500 Face bricks: 470/=@          6,345,000
Total: 12,945,000/=  equivalent to 4885 U. S. dollars

We shall be very very grateful to you for any farther assistance that will be extended to us. Greetings to all of you our friends.

Yours truly,
Rev. Fr. Anthony Bukyanagandi Isabirye
