Catholic Schools Week

“Catholic Schools Light the Way”
January 27 – February 2, 2008

Catholic Schools Week is a national event held annually to celebrate Catholic Schools.  The 2008 national theme is “Catholic Schools Light the Way” and the slogan says it all.  Catholic Schools are successful, our students are excelling, and every day we’re making a difference in our communities and in the world.  

“We see the marvelous reality of Catholic education each day at our school, and we invite everyone to join in our celebration!”  ~ St. Joseph Catholic School principal, Lesley Harrison.

SCHEDULE

Saturday & Sunday, January 26 & 27  “Catholic Schools Light the Way…In our Community” 

Monday, January 28 “Catholic Schools Light the Way…In our Students” 

  • PJ Day: Wear pajamas, Shoes must be worn outside.

  • 8:40am student Prayer Assembly Led by 6th Grade

  • 2:00pm Read-in with a treat

Tuesday, January 29 “Catholic Schools Light the Way…In our Community

  • Hat Day: Wear uniform and your favorite hat

  • Grandparent /Special Friend Day

  • 8:30am continental breakfast, Cafeteria (This is for Grandparents & Special Friends only, please)

  • 8:40am student Prayer Assembly Led by 7th Grade

  • 9:30am Performance by the Vancouver Pops, School Gym

  • Guests may then visit Classrooms and stay for lunch

Wednesday, January 30 “Catholic Schools Light the Way…In our Nation

  • Color Day: Red- grades 6,7,8…White- grades 3,4,5…Blue- grades K,1,2 Jeans may be worn

  • 8:00am school Mass

  • Write letters to service men/women

Thursday, January 31 “Catholic Schools Light the Way…In our Vocations

  • Class Theme Day: Each grade dresses up to a different theme.  Watch for more information from your teachers!

  • 8:00am family morning: Donuts and coffee in the breezeway, then visit classrooms until 8:30am

  • Uniform Exchange, Cafeteria 8-9 am

  • 8:40am student Prayer Assembly Led by 8th Grade

  • Sr. Beatrice of Sisters of Providence order, will visit students

Friday, February 1 “Catholic Schools Light the Way…In our Community

  • Wear uniform and bring a sack lunch!

  • 10:00am ALL CITY Mass - We welcome our guests: Our Lady of Lourdes School, Pacific Crest Academy and St. Rose School of Longview. (Our guests will stay for lunch with us.)

  • 1:30pm prayer assembly Led by Student Council followed by “Evening of Entertainment” assembly

  • Penny drive ends
