​Fifth grade families are responsible for enhancing safety during morning drop-off: 

• three families (parent(s) and their student(s) serve from 7:50-8:20. It is vital to have full coverage daily, including in inclement weather.
• Each family must fill at least FIVE Aug-Jan shifts.
• Additional shifts will be added in January so families can complete the 10-11 shifts required for the school year.
• You may sign up for all five shifts in a couple of weeks or spread them out Aug-Jan. 
• Please remember that we need continuous staffing of the parking lot - don't just sign up for "fair weather" months. 

​Parent roles are:

• Crossing guard (directing traffic with Stop/Go sign)
• Curbside drive through drop-off supervision (keep cars pulling all the way forward for drop off)
• Driveway guidance (direct school families to turn right as they enter and allowing parishioners to turn left to park for morning Mass, will use Stop/Slow sign).
• Students will be holding flags at the crosswalk to assist with pedestrian safety. Students should always be out of the parking lot itself. 

Volunteers must have current Virtus training and current background check in place.

Crossing Guards are an important school and community safety resource. Students earn a special incentive at the end of the year and parents earn Service Hours for this mandatory 5th grade service requirement.

Families should be on duty from 7:50-8:20. Check in at the East doors by the 5th grade classrooms at 7:45 for a vest and supplies. Safety vests, the Stop sign, cones, and flags are outside of the east middle school doors near Mrs. Yarne's classroom. Please return items to the same location. 

**Volunteers should not be on cell phones during duty time.
